| Most canine behavior problems can be managed, controlled or eliminated with consistent and effective training. Before you give your pooch up because he's soiling your house, or because she's chewing your furniture or pulling on a leash, call and register for our dog training. Behavior problems are one of the primary reasons dogs are given up to shelters. We take your canine’s behavior problems very seriously, and can provide you with the knowledge, skills and training techniques needed to resolve your dog’s behavior problems.

OBEDIENCE
Education is the key to successful dog training, and the Basic Obedience and Beyond Class is fun and educational for both the dog and owner. Your dog will learn the basics: sit, stay, down, come, walking on a loose leash, etc. Plus you will learn how to shape desirable behaviors while eliminating unwanted ones, by using humane and effective positive reinforcement techniques. Beyond this, you and your dog will learn to understand each other, and work together to build a happy, long-lasting relationship, with you as the natural leader. You can teach an old dog new tricks, and this class is open to all dogs 6 months and older.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy
The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting new program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start; and an incentive program for loving dog owners who commit to a 6 week training class. S.T.A.R. stands for: Training, Socialization, Activity and Responsibility - all covered in the 6 week class. These classes teach you how to best communicate with your puppy, and also provide an opportunity for your pup to socialize with other pups. In classes aimed at earning the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy distinction, you'll be able to get information on all of your puppy-raising questions including housetraining, chewing, and the most effective way to teach practical skills such as coming when called. Once you complete the class, your puppy is eligible to be enrolled in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. Your instructor will administer the S.T.A.R. Puppy Test at the end of the course; and upon passing the test and sending in the application, your puppy receives:

AGILITY
Agility training consists of leading your dog through an obstacle course: leaping over jumps and tires, weaving through poles, burrowing through a tunnel, plus walking ‘a plank’ and a teeter…the obstacles are great fun, but the best part is the strong bond built while you and your dog work together as a team. Team training such as this builds a tremendous amount of confidence, helps release extra energy, plus provides mental and physical stimulation. It will be so enjoyable that you and your dog won’t even realize you are learning! Open to dogs 6 months old and older.

Comments from Happy Dog Training Customers:
"We really enjoyed the dog training sessions at the St. Augustine Humane Society with Sherrie and Stella. Sherrie is a very patient teacher focusing on teaching the owners how to work with their specific dog and building that bond between owner and pet. Cooper improved each class and at the end of the session, we really did have a "new' dog. Sherrie helped us find our patience in order to train Cooper. The time and energy is well worth it!" Liane
"We took our 8 month old puppy Dottie to obedience classes with Sheri and Stella. It made the world of difference. The socialization with other dogs was really helpful. Along with all of the other commands "leave it" is great when Dottie wants to chase a squirrel or eat something on the ground. Sheri has been invaluable to us. She answers all our questions and gives great advice/tips when we need help with an issue. It worked so well on Dottie, next class I'm bringing my husband!(all he knows is sit and lie down!) ps: Sheri and Stella make great partners. (business!)" Michelle & Ed
"Hi Guys, We loved your puppy class. Auggie is still almost always following my commands (not always since he is a curious little guy). I think his exposure to all the other dogs was a big help too. Another Boston Terrier moved into the neighborhood and he is now in love. I will have to send you a little video of them together. When I have a chance, I will probably do the agility class with him. I also told our Vet that we had a good experience in case anyone with a pup was looking for training." Thanks, Deborah
